What technical skills do we need to install a NewsBox?
Basic HTML skills. Our support people help your Webmaster install the code.
The code consists of two lines of HTML.
What's the difference between your News Loader software and RSS feeds?
Two big differences. First, News Loader takes content from a variety of sources including RSS feeds. Our editors select the sources of the feeds. Most RSS feeds have a lot of unusable content and that's filtered out.

Second, our editors preview all the content before loading the content into your NewsBox. You approve the content before loading the NewBox.
How do you select which keywords to use in searching for content?
In the setup process, an editor creates a description of what your company does. You can see a typical write-up of a fictional company MarfaFlights.com. The second part is selecting two groups of keywords, positive and negative.
What's the difference between positive and negative key words?
Positive key words are the ones you want to be associated with, such as clean energy, no emissions, and others. Negative key words are typically names of your competitors, or other content that you don't want in the NewsBox.
Why does the NewsBox scroll?
The scrolling serves two purposes. First it permits more stories to be loaded in the NewsBox than can be displayed at one time. Secondly, the constant scrolling attracts attention. Users report that visitors to their site look at the NewsBox first when they visit the site.
Do you load the NewsBox software on my company server?
No. All the software is stored on a server at Amazon Web Services. The NewsBox points at that server. There is no loading on your server or space requirements.
What happens if the Amazon server goes down?
It's unlikely, but if it does happen the NewsBox automatically closes up and the original colors of your website are restored. There is no empty box with a red "x". Once service is restored, the NewsBox automatically reopens.
How often do I get the NewsBox content updated?
Most users get weekly updates. If you want more frequent fresh content, there is an extra charge.
What are the charges?
The set-up fee is $995 and the monthly charge is $495.
Any technical support?
Yes, weekdays 9am to 5pm CST. You can talk to an editor or a tech support person.
What search engines do you use?
It depends on the type of content you are interested in. We certainly include Google Search plus a number of others such as Yahoo and specialized engines. For example, the MarfaFlights.com site pulls content off an aggregator called "SolarIndustryNews.com". That uses a total of six search engines. The editors look at a variety of sources.
What are the terms of your contract?
Six months minimum and then you go month-to-month. We suggest that a fresh company summary and keywords be done every year. In some case where the business is in start-up mode, we will do an update every six months at $995.
Our company has excellent in-house editors. What are your terms for just the software?
Setup is the same except we train your in-house people how to use our software and the editing tools. Same start-up fee is $995 plus travel if you want up to come to your location. The monthly fee is reduced to $349.
What if we need a new in-house editor trained?
We can train your new personnel in-person at your site or on the phone for $100/hour.
What's your key product advantage?
A combination of fast, well-tested software and our editors. You get interesting content on your site without hassle.
Can you help us if we have problems installing the HTML?
We assume one hour of technical support for installing the two lines of code in the setup charge. If you need a lot of help, which is unusual, the charge is $100/hour.
What do the two lines of code look like?
The first two lines define the display properties on your site. The third line points to the Amazon server where the contents are stored.
Is there an alternate to using an iFrame?
There is a JavaScript and pure HTML implementation also.
